BIDEN'S ACUITY

       for fb.jpg

                                                  BY WILLIAM JUNEAU

The mental acuity of America's 46th president has become a topic for discussion.  Some say President Biden has a stuttering problem, and nothing more.  He is on the ball, a "healthy septuagenarian" and has fought his way through many medical problems. His fans say he is fully capable of serving as President and endorsing his agenda and  reading statements and holding news conferences.

On the other hand, President Biden, is not only living up to his reputation as the "Lamborghini of Gaffes," he also is providing evidence that he is not mentally equipped to handle the work of America's President.  Speaking in Biden-type rhetoric, his critics say,  "Hey, man, Basement Joe just isn't playing with a full deck."

His failure to recognize the mounting crisis on the southern border which he has personally created is disturbing.  His plans to spend trillions of tax dollars on the Green New deal, and on social programs to stamp out systemic racism, all funded with immense tax increases, is also alarming. Surely it must suggest to even his most ardent  followers that something in that head is skipping a beat and senility has taken over.

America's southern border is wide open and the best and the worst are pouring over the desert sands and the Rio Grande, guided by the Mexican cartels, and President Biden owns the mess. Thousands and thousands of children from toddlers to the teens walk alone across the border, often wearing Tee shirts thanking Biden for the invitation.  Those that have the Covid-19 virus are being put up at hotels or in army barracks or simply sent on their way into the cities, towns and villages of the country, and allowed to mingle unobtrusively with Americans.

Biden yammers over and over about enforcing the "mask mandate" which he seems to think is a cure- all for every problem of the pandemic and even of the "challenge" at the border. We bring in refugees who need a home because "that is who we are," boasts Biden, wearing his double black mask.

Since taking the office of President on January 21, Biden has held one news conference in which he demonstrated his mental agility as he responded to questions.  He read from prepared scripts provided to him by his "advisers."  He took about 10 questions  from  standouts of the left wing press who prefaced inquiries by noting what a "good and moral man" he was.   Questions from Fox News or other conservative reporters were not allowed.

His performance as President shows clearly that he is fumbling mentally, and I am guessing that millions believe that "slow Joe" will never complete his four- year term.  There is a general belief that Vice President Harris, who is believed to be assigning many of the liberal policies now pushed by the President,  eventually will take his seat in the Oval Office.  Probability is that Biden will resign as President with nudging from the party faithful, or that he will be removed via the 25th amendment which will be promoted by the vice president and the cabinet members.

Can we accept the judgment of Biden's mental fitness as described by retired Navy Admiral, Ronny Jackson, now a United States Congressman from Texas.  Before election to Congress, Admiral Jackson, a Republican, was the personal physician for Democrat Obama, and Republican Trump between the years 2013 to 2018.  No one had the opportunity which Jackson had to observe Biden in action as a Vice President and later in his campaign and during his early months as President.

In interviews,  Dr. Jackson has noted, that while he was around the upper level of government with both Obama and Trump, he was not the personal physician to Vice President Biden.  However, said Johnson, he saw and had dealings with the vice president many, many times, and his mental capacity has diminished.  Basically, said Dr. Jackson, the new President simply does not know what he is doing.

After Biden fell on the steps of his plane, Jackson  tweeted that "I served as White House physician under two presidents.  I’ve seen what it takes physically and mentally to do the job."  I can tell you tell you right now, he added, that the way Biden hid in his basement and avoided conferences... is a "major red flag"  that something with Biden is not right!

Dr. Mark Siegel has been a Fox News contributor.  Asked about Biden's cognitive ability,  Dr. Siegel said  Biden needs to have a mental assessment test. " I cannot opine on his mental state, but I have seen him and heard him talking, and  believe that he should undergo a cognitive examination."

In one public comment,  Biden has referred to his Vice President as "President Harris," and just recently he forgot the name of his Secretary of Defense ( Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III) and said, "I want to thank the Sec...., the ah former general. I keep calling him general, but my, my — the guy who runs the outfit over there."

During his presidential campaign, Biden noted that he was a candidate for the United States Senate. Just a little gaffe, something he is famous for?                                                                                    Victor Davis Hanson, 67, of the Hoover Institute is a highly respected professor and historian whose opinion is sought after and who has published books and written articles and opinion columns in many magazines and papers, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post.  Hanson has opined that Joe Biden has had trouble finishing a sentence. "To him, names are vague eddies in his mind’s river of forgetfulness. He is in a far more dire mental state than a physically failing FDR was in the months before his death."

Some analysts have said that President Trump was "un-grammatical."  Compared to Trump, said Dr. Hanson, Biden is "a-grammatical" — he simply streams together half-thoughts without syntax and then abandons the sentence entirely.

Those traits do not necessarily assess  his full brain power and cognitive ability.  As to that,  Hanson added  that  "Joe Biden is tragically suffering a mental eclipse and sliding away at a geometric rate. Each scripted, canned and rehearsed appearance offers proof that Biden is cognitively unable to be president or indeed to hold any office."

Leo Terrell, an African-American and a widely known and admired California civil rights lawyer, and now a Fox News contributor and a radio host, has said that President Biden has done nothing for the black community except insult it.  But aside from that, "I look at him and know he does not know what he is doing.  There's something wrong there."

Just prior to the election last November, a poll reported that one out of three Americans believe that Joe Biden is cognitively impaired.  Some believe today, that that percentage is much, much higher.

                  Can everyone be wrong?

THE GEORGE FLOYD TRIAL

for fb.jpg

                                                  BY BILL JUNEAU

In anticipation of opening arguments in the George Floyd trial, the courthouse in downtown Minneapolis has become a fortress surrounded by coil-wired fence and security officers. Down the street at the "George Floyd square,"  protest groups are mulling about and preparing to make themselves heard.

National Guard troops have been deployed to the area and surrounding streets, working together with local policemen and residents, and merchants are on guard for any renewal of the rioting and anarchy of last summer which caused millions of dollars in damages, and which had the tacit endorsement of city officials.

A huge mass of protesting visitors is expected at the Square, and activists have discussed providing refreshments and fresh flowers to adorn the Floyd memorial.   Reportedly, portable toilets and hand-washing stations will be made available in that anointed intersection  of the city which on May 25 of  last year was the location where Floyd was arrested and restrained with a police knee on his throat and subsequently died.

Inside  the courthouse, with the litigation scheduled to begin on  March 29,  picking of a jury has gone forward. Because of the overwhelming publicity following the Floyd death, the process of finding jurors who can lay aside all prejudices  and decide the fate of the defendant based entirely upon evidence to be presented by witnesses under oath, is challenging.

The jury selection process, which began on March 7 with a  pool of nearly 400 persons, got even more arduous and difficult as breaking news circulated that the city of Minneapolis had elected to settle a wrongful death suit against it and was awarding the Floyd family $27 million dollars in damages.

When the report of the settlement was revealed during the second week of the jury selection process,  nine jurors had been approved.  But then, Trial Judge Peter Cahill was hit with defense motions renewing requests that the case be sent from Hennepin county to another venue due to the tremendous publicity attached to the case, which was made even  greater with news of huge settlement carrying with it an acknowledgement by the city of wrongdoing.

On Friday, March 19, the judge denied motions to relocate the trial to another county in Minnesota, or simply delay its start,  and by the close of the day and the beginning of the weekend, 12  jurors were approved and plans for the picking of two alternates was set for the coming week.

The 12-person jury is presently composed of seven women and five men. The panel includes four black people, six white people and two jurors who identify as multiracial. There is also a wide range of ages among the jurors, with the oldest person a black grandmother in her 60s; the youngest are two people, a white man and a biracial woman, in their 20s

Officer Derek Chauvin, 45, a 19-year police veteran on the Minneapolis force, is accused of second and third degree murder and manslaughter of Floyd arising from Floyd's arrest  last May 25, 2020,  for passing a counterfeit $20 bill to a merchant who telephoned for police.  Officers recognized Floyd as a police character who had been arrested in May of 2019 because of similar criminal conduct.

The behavior of Floyd, 46, became erratic after he was confronted by police and handcuffed. When talk and persuasion did not work, Floyd was subdued by the defendant policeman by forcing his knee onto his throat, after which Floyd was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Chauvin has pleaded not guilty to all charges and his attorneys contend that Floyd actually succumbed as a result of a fatal amount of fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system, and that his death was hastened as a result of advanced heart disease.  The defendant officer  disputes the fact that Floyd died as a result of being deprived of air.  Police technique of using a  knee to the throat to subdue an arrestee is taught and approved for use by policemen.

Based on publicized news reports, Floyd was well known to Minneapolis officers.  He had an extensive record for various forms of thefts and had served five years in a penitentiary for home invasion during which time he threatened a pregnant woman by pushing a loaded pistol into her swollen abdomen.

In the United States, unlike other countries in the world, defendants are cloaked in a legal presumption of innocence which allows them to be represented by counsel and to present their defense in its entirety. Guilt must be proved "beyond a reasonable doubt," and a defendant does not need to prove his innocence.  Defendants will be judged by a jury of  their peers, and its decision must be based upon sworn evidence presented in the trial. Demands of a guilty finding from a biased media or from politicians and activist groups are outside the purview of the jurors and must be ignored, as was explained to jurors during the questioning process by Judge Cahill.

In the next several days before start of the trial, Judge Cahill will  approve the seating of two alternate jurors and will hear other pre-trial motions, if any.  The trial will commence on Monday, March 29. Most likely, the jury will be sequestered and the televised trial is expected to last for several weeks.

THE MUFFLED ME-TOO COMPLAINT AGAINST JOE BIDEN

for fb.jpg

                                                  BY BILL JUNEAU

With the angry "Me-Too" movement again in the news because of the alleged misconduct of New York Gov. Cuomo, perhaps its time for a legitimate inquiry into the allegations against Joe Biden. The public may have forgotten that back in his days as a U.S. Senator, the current president was accused of  being a sexual predator.

Twenty nine years ago, when Biden seemingly was running with a full tank as a U.S. senator from Delaware, he was accused of forcing his attentions upon an office  staffer, Tara Reade, and even penetrating her with his finger, noting in typical Biden rhetoric, "C'mon, man, I heard you liked me."

The complaint from Ms. Reade has a definite ring of truth and some of the circumstances revealed by her have been corroborated by friends, and by her mother.  She has contended that references to the incident can be found in the archives of the U.S. Senate or in the basement filings stored at the University of Delaware, but the files with reference to the woman's complaint are supposedly sealed from all inspection, for some unknown reasons. They cannot be examined, but there is nothing in them, Biden has said.

Recently, New York's Gov. Cuomo came under investigation for being a sexual predator after two former aides and a woman he encountered socially told of being harassed sexually by him. One aide claimed he forced a kiss on her.  He has denied inappropriate touching, but has apologized for making women feel uncomfortable, though he has said it was never his  intention for that to happen.  He is friendly guy,  he says, and is given to outward expressions of good will which he often demonstrates with a hug and a friendly comment.

Yet these women have spoken out against Cuomo, who recently held an "emotional-style" news conference offering his "I'm sorry" explanations. However, he will not go so far as to resign as governor, despite calls from some fellow Democrats to do so.  President Biden has been quiet as to Cuomo's problems, but he has called him the "gold standard" in handling the pandemic, although many are claiming that the governor has lied about the deaths in nursing homes and ought to be prosecuted and thrown out of office for this---aside from his sexual harassment of women.

President Biden has said that the allegations against him are not true, and nothing else needs be said.  He says any files which may contain references to the allegations by his former staff assistant are permanently stored and cannot be examined by anyone.  That seems to be a satisfactory explanation for the media, which is pleased to have such an honest new President who has taken the place of the evil Donald Trump.

Trump-hating  Democrats like Nancy Pelosi aver they are satisfied that Biden simply never did anything wrong and that the allegations from Ms. Reade are a figment of her imagination.   That is good enough for the media too, no questions asked.

Senators and Democrats who ripped into Justice Kavanaugh have been completely silent  concerning the Reade complaint against Biden.  Their previous declarations that "all women are to be believed"  simply does not apply to the now hidden complaint by Ms. Reade against Sen. Biden, a gaffe-ridden plagiarist and liar of record.

Back in 1992, Ms. Reade, now 57,  was an aide in Biden's senatorial office in the Capitol. In an interview, she told the New York Times that Biden assaulted her in a dark and deserted part of the Capitol after she caught up to her boss to give him his gym bag which he had left in the office.

She said that he  pushed her against a wall and started  kissing her neck and hair.  He slid his hand up her cream-colored blouse, she said, and used his knee to part her bare legs before reaching under her skirt and penetrating her with his fingers.

It happened all at once, she said.  "He’s talking to me and his hands are everywhere and everything is happening very quickly,” she recalled. He was kissing me and he said in a low tone, "Do you want to go somewhere else?"  Reade said she pulled away and Mr. Biden stopped.

She stated that he looked at her kind of puzzled and whispered in typical Biden rhetoric, "C'mon on, man, I heard you liked me."

At the time, Ms. Reade said she worried whether she had done something wrong to encourage his advances. “He pointed his finger at me and he said, 'you’re nothing to me. Nothing.' Then, he took my shoulders and said, 'you’re okay, you’re fine,' and walked away down a hallway."
Reade said she cleaned up in a restroom, made her way home and, sobbing, called her mother, who encouraged her to immediately file a police report.  Instead of notifying police, Reade said that she complained to the personnel office of Biden's behavior.
Reade first went public with the alleged misconduct of Biden in March of last year, and subsequently she was interviewed on 60 Minutes and by Megyn Kelly and during other sessions when she was intercepted by newsmen.   Reade was one of eight women who came forward last year to tell of Biden's conduct toward them which made them feel "uncomfortable."  In some cases, it was his "hair sniffing" which was unwanted.
The Joe Biden defense has been that the Reade thing never happened, and files at the university cannot be opened.  Story closed---and the Democrat-controlled media is fine with that.

CHRISTOPHER WRAY OF FBI

for fb.jpg

                                                  BY WILLIAM JUNEAU

FBI Director Christopher Wray is dancing around questions concerning the part his agency played in warning Congress and the Capitol police about potential violence planned for last January 6.   Cutting through his comments about "domestic terrorism" and who is to blame, it appears he fumbled the ball big time, and that seems to be his feckless way of running the agency.

His failure to warn of potential mob violence in the Capitol was a repeat of the mishandling of information which the FBI had in its lap regarding a threatened school shooting in Parkland Florida in February, 2018.  In that shooting, sixteen high school students and one faculty member were gunned down, and about a score more were wounded in the hallways of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school by a disturbed former student whose name was in the waste basket at FBI headquarters.  That massacre could have and should have been prevented.

In fact, so outrageous was the Parkland negligence by the FBI with Wray in command, that Florida Gov. Rick Scott, now Senator Scott, called for Wray's  immediate dismissal for incompetence.

In the Parkland massacre, the FBI had information containing the name of the shooter, his address and were in touch with a student who knew the shooter, and feared that he would carry out his plan of gunning down students.  "Nicholas Cruz" even identified himself in his postings with his plans to shoot up a school.  The FBI was given information on "Nicholas Cruz" and his plans to kill, on September 25, 2017, and again in January 2018.  The school shooting occurred on February 14, 2018, Valentine's Day, and, yes, Nicholas Cruz was the assassin.

Wray, 54,  was appointed FBI chief by President Trump in August, 2017. He had been recommended for the job by former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christi. Wray was Christi's personal attorney and had defended the governor in the so-called "Bridgegate" controversy against accusations that the governor had been complicit in arranging a traffic jam-up designed as a political maneuver to hurt a critic and an opponent.

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee has recently opened an investigation into the January 6 "insurrection" in the Capitol and wants to find out how and why it came about, and what the FBI, Capitol police and security officers knew in advance. Wray was a key witness.

In his prepared statement, Wray spoke of "domestic terrorism" as the root cause of the insurrection. Though no guns were found, he said, nearly 300 persons, mostly "white supremacists" were arrested and 17 were linked to the right wing Proud Boys and are facing prosecution. Wray's comments were in welcomed consistency with Democrats on the committee charging that left wing Antifa radicals were not members of the mob, and that former President Trump had lied about that.

When senators got around to questioning Wray about what the FBI knew prior to the attack and what it did about it, the well coiffed Wray began to squirm in his chair.  Questions led to revelations about a document known as the  Norfolk S.I.R. (Situational Information Report) which had been prepared by the Norfolk, Virginia arm of the FBI.  The report was a bombshell and warned that violence was expected on January 6.

The report arrived at the FBI headquarters on January 5. "I didn't see that report which was raw, unverified information until some number of days after the 6th," Wray told Senator Diane Feinstein in response to a question.  But he said, the "unverified information was passed within I think 40 minutes to an hour to our partners---the Capitol police and the Metro Police."

In the S.I.R.,  Norfolk investigators revealed the content of an on line "thread" calling for violence.  It read:  "Be ready to fight. Congress needs to hear glass breaking, doors being kicked in, and blood from their BLM and Antifa slave soldiers being spilled. Get violent. Stop calling this a march, or rally, or a protest. Go there ready for war. We get our President or we die. Nothing else will achieve this goal.”

Senators were nonplused at Wray's thin explanation. He was director, he said, but never saw the document; yet it was sent over to Capitol police within 40 minutes.  The FBI made no calls to congressmen, or other officials who were engaged in preparing for the peaceful transition of leadership from the Trump administration to the new Biden administration.

"I understand your response,"  said Sen.  Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut.  "What I don't understand is why this chatter and raw intelligence didn't prompt a stronger warning, an alarm, going to the very  top of the United States Congress because clearly the U.S. Congress was under severe threat."

On Valentine's Day, 2018, Cruz burst into the school from where he had been expelled and began firing and his former classmates began falling. He left minutes later, had a hamburger at a fast food restaurant, and shortly thereafter was identified as the shooter and arrested.

After the shootings and the incredible negligence  of the FBI was exposed, public apologies came from Attorney General Jeff Sessions and from Wray.  The Deputy Director provided the following terse and formal response on behalf of the world famous police agency:

"Under established protocols, the information provided by the callers should have been assessed as a potential threat to life...and the tip should have been forwarded to the Miami field office.  We clearly should have done more."

Many lawsuits were filed against the FBI for its unquestionable negligence, and a judge has ruled that the FBI lacks immunity for its conduct.

Aside from the agency's negligent behavior in Florida, and its failure to adequately warn of the potential violence set for Jan. 6th in the Capitol,  Wray has been a disappointment for  concealing the fact for more than a year that the agency had possession of a Hunter Biden computer with emails suggesting corruption by Hunter and members of his family, including his father, the President.  He remained silent while President Trump was going through an impeachment and called a liar for suggesting that the Biden family needed to explain the billion dollar deals which Hunter had negotiated with China and other countries.

THE CURT SCHILLING STORY

for fb.jpg

                                                  BY WILLIAM JUNEAU

A few weeks ago, we got word that the Baseball Hall of Fame would not be inducting any new members for 2021, and that included Curt Schilling whose outstanding performance as a fast-ball king is undeniable.  But for his born-again Christian and conservative views, he would have been enshrined in the world famous Hall in Cooperstown, New York, years ago.

There are 308 members of the BBWAA (Baseball Writers Association of America) and balloting goes on annually in consideration of inducting new members.  For approval to the Hall of Fame, a successful applicant needs to garner  a "Yes"  vote from a minimum of 75 per cent of the voting baseball reporters. And any one candidate for membership in the Hall of Fame has 10 years in which to overcome that hurdle.

Schilling, 54,  polled 71.1 per cent of the baseball writers in the last poll targeting inductees for 2021. Twenty five ex ball players were considered as candidates for induction, but none received the necessary number of yes votes.  Schilling came the closest with his 71.1 per cent.  Nearest him in the negative count were Home Run King Barry Bonds with 61.8% and fast baller, Roger, the Rocket, Clemens with 61.6.

It was the ninth consecutive year of rejections for  Schilling, Bonds and Clemens.  Apparently, it is a "character" issue for the three, because their performance on the diamond was truly extraordinary.  Bonds and Clemens allegedly used steroids to enhance their performance, and Schilling is just too outspoken and conservative to be in the Hall.  In past years following his retirement from the diamond, Schilling has been a vociferous supporter of Donald Trump; and a critic of the transgender movement; and of Muslims who want to turn the planet into a caliphate with  death for infidels.

Barry Bonds has said that he juiced up on steroids but unwittingly, and Clemens has denied ever using illegal drugs during his brilliant career, but no one believes him. That's the case even though he always tested drug free.  Clemens' enshrinement has been torpedoed by other players who claim he received steroid injections.

But without question, Curt Schilling belongs in the Hall of Fame.  His so-called character transgressions and disdain for "political correctness" did him in. He likes the policies of President Trump and agrees with him that journalists lie and that "fake news" is prevalent. His so called biases really pale in comparison to the records of Hall of Famers like Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker, both reputed members of the KKK; and Babe Ruth, a notorious drinker and womanizer. But these are different times where all Caucasians are white supremacists, homophobes and  xenophobes, and Schilling has been given that jacket.

Back in 2015 when Schilling was broadcasting for ESPN. he castigated Muslim terrorists for having slaughtered Americans in San Bernardino, California. Something needs to be done to reign them in, and he noted that appeasing experts tell us that the extremists in Islam make up a "mere" 5 per cent, he said. There are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world. and 5 per cent equates to 75 million persons.  Nazi Germany in the 1930s had 65 million residents and a mere 7.5 percent identified as Hitler followers. "So, how did that go?" he asked.

As to transgenders and the Obama decree about bathroom use, Schilling took exception. Using the social media, Schilling tweeted that the men's bathroom was designed for individuals with a penis.  To say otherwise is "pathetic"  but unfortunately, if you object to the policy, you are nothing but "a narrow minded, judgmental unloving, racist bigot..." The liberal ESPN promptly fired him as a sports commentator.

During 19 years in the big leagues,  Schilling was a standout right-handed fast baller with Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillis, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Boston Red Sox.  His longest stints with a team were 8 years with the Phillies and four with the Boston Red Sox.

In those years he won 216 games, and had an ERA of 3.46.  He struck out more than 3,000 batters and his 11 wins, and 2 loses in post season games is the best post season pitching record  among pitchers with at least 10 decisions.   He will forever be remembered for winning Game 6 of the 2004 American League Championship Series for the Red Sox with surgically repaired tendons and blood dripping down his sock. "Baseball has rarely seen a big-game pitcher like Schilling....he was always at his best when pressure burned the hottest," one baseball writer has noted.

Learning of his rejection from the Hall for the ninth time, Schilling requested the BBWAA to withdraw his name from further consideration in 2022 which would be his 10th and final year for possible enshrinement. His request however would not necessarily restrict the baseball writers from this consideration and many sports figures, such as Bob Costas, have vigorously supported Schilling's election to the Hall of Fame.

Schilling, a devoted family man with three children, said in his letter to the BBWAA that he knows trends and "I know that I will not attain the 75% threshold for induction."

In my years as a ballplayer, he wrote that he has been a good teammate, and has been exposed to adulterers, assaulters, drug addicts and alcoholics.  I have never hit a woman, driven drunk, done drugs or otherwise assaulted anyone or committed any sort of crime.  I am at peace...and will always have one thing they will forever chase. A legacy.  Whatever mine is as a player, it will be the truth and one I earned for better or worse."

'The game has made it clear it does not want me back and that's fine-- the game owes me exactly nothing," he said. "It gave a billion more than it took and I'll forever be deeply in debt debt to it.

"My love of this country has always been worn on my sleeve and my desire to do the right thing and be a good person has driven my life choices."

Currently, Schilling is a commentator for Blaze TV.
